Welsh farmers in despair over Brexit

In the hills of Wales there is only one game….sheep farming! Welsh sheep farmers work long hours but are lucky to earn minimum wage for their efforts. Almost all their money comes from EU farm subsidies and without them they would be unable to survive.

Andrea Leadsom, the failed Tory leadership candidate, who now heads the Government’s agriculture ministry, has refused to confirm that subsidies will continue after Brexit. That could be 80 percent of the sheep farmers money gone up in smoke. The rest comes from selling the sheep….but guess where most of them go? To Europe! The EU does not import meat from non-EU countries so after Brexit that income disappears too!

No wonder sheep farmers are close to despair. Wales could be a sheep free zone within days of Brexit happening!
